Towing Big Loads: Large Enclosed Trailers to the Rescue

· Trailers,Cargo Trailers,Industrial Equipment

Packing up for a camping trip and moving houses, especially with a big family are two different things. The latter requires you to use a trailer. Sometimes even small items require a trailer. If these loads would fit in your pickup truck or car you wouldn't need to hook up a trailer. When it comes to towing large items across different states, especially ones where the weather changes a lot it's best that one uses a large enclosed trailer. Obviously, you would get a trailer that is able to fit all the items you'll haul. But why should go with a closed-design trailer?

Benefits of Large Enclosed Cargo Trailers

Protection

While a cargo trailer with an open design is going to give you a lot more flexibility when ti comes to loading items with awkward shapes, they are not as protective. In fact, they provide no protection whatsoever. Closed large cargo trailers protect your items not only from adverse weather conditions but also from prying eyes. Your items will stay dry and untouched bu external factors, whatever they are.

Storage

Since we're talking about large closed trailers storage won't be an issue. With them, you have a lot of space to gather your belongings and, perhaps furniture or snowboarding gear without worrying whether or not they'll fit. Of course, this depends on the size of trailer you get, but as long as you hook up the right-sized trailer you'll be good to go. The fact that these trailers aren't open doesn't have to be as limiting – with the right trailer anything can be towed.

Security

For added security enclosed large cargo trailers often come with locks. Some may even have alarm systems. The latter cost more but that's because they're a lot safer. In comparison to open trailers which don't offer any sort of protection, large enclosed trailers are the best and only way to keep your valuables safe.

Cost-Effective

Instead of renting an entire vehicle to transport your items getting just a trailer is a more cost-effective option. Both closed and open trailers are able to do the same job but with closed trailers, you won't have to look at your side mirrors as much – if you know what I mean. No damage means no money spent on repairs and with closed trailers, this will be of no worry. But how do you know when you've picked the right one?

What to Consider

Size

The first thing, as mentioned above, to keep in mind is the size of the trailer. So how do you know if your trailer is going to be large enough? You should know that the most commonly used trailers are 1.5 m, 1.8 m, 2 m, and 2.6 m wide. When it comes to length the most commonly used trailers are between 2.5 m and 9.7. Since you are after a large cargo trailer then you should look for 2 m wide and 8 or 9 meters long trailers depending on the number and size of items you want to transport.

Axles

First off you need to determine the number of axles your trailer is going to need. For this, you need to get to know both types of axles, torsion, and leaf spring. Torsion axles use rubber springs which are better when towing lighter cargo. Since leaf spring axles have metal springs they are stronger and ideal for heavier loads.

Because of this they take up more space and are heavier than torsion axles. Before you go for a single or a tandem axle system, you need to check the height of the items and the state of the roads you'll be driving on. The worse the roads and the higher the items the more axles you'll need to keep everything in place.

Ideas

Office

What you'll use the trailer for will also dictate its size. Sometimes a large enclosed trailer can be used for things other than moving boxes and sports equipment. For one, you can set up your own WFH office. This way you won't have to put a cheesy background on your next Zoom call or feel like you're working from home. You can make your own office space that isn't going to be boring.

Landscaping

If you're a professional landscaper and don't want to haul around various tools in your pickup truck then an enclosed cargo trailer is your best bet. Why? Simply because you won't have to pick which tools you need every time you head out or worry about any of them getting affected by the weather.

Hobby Space

If you don't feel like having a shed built for you or building one on your own and want to have ”me time” away from family members, a closed-design cargo trailer is the perfect spot for it. With plenty of room of which you can change the location at any given time, you'll have an endless array of options on what to explore next and enjoy crafting or painting - whatever your passion is.

Business

If you want to start out small like the innovators of today did but don't have the garage space for it, start a new entrepreneurial trend and start from your cargo trailer. Even if a neighbour complains about the noose you can just move to a different location and you're good to go. Just don't try to start a Heisenberg-like business out in the desert.

Camping

If you don't have enough money to get a campervan and all the commodities that come with it or want to make one with a custom layout a closed trailer is a great first step. Whilst camping in a tent is a close-to-nature approach, a cargo trailer is for those of you who want a little bit more comfort whilst out in the woods.

Recreation

If you want to experience the true meaning of life on the edge then you probably do some more extreme sporting activities. If you re into dirt bike riding or exploring the hills of a mountain on an ATV, an enclosed cargo trailer is going to provide the necessities to get your gear up there.
